Meet our Rabbi: Rabbi Marc Kline |

He became the Rabbi of Temple Adath Israel in Lexington, Kentucky in July, 2003. He brought with him a love for Torah and for people. Marc was born in Los Angeles, California (July, 1960), grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and obtained a B.A. from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. After earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, he practiced law for six years before entering Rabbinical School. Marc married Cindy Jennings Kline in September, 1985 and they have four children, Corey, Joshua, Ilana, and Rachel. They have histories of being involved in their respective communities, as well. Rabbi Kline served for three years as the Chaplain at Glen Manor Home for the Jewish Aged in Cincinnati, Ohio and then as Rabbi at Beth Israel Congregation in Florence, South Carolina for eight years, before coming to Lexington. He is committed to youth work and tends to prefer experiential worship experiences. While he considers music the most important element of the worship experience, he acknowledges that his musical talent is limited to asking people who can sing to do so. Marc has been involved in education and social justice causes his entire professional career. He has taught at the high school and college levels and has provided diversity training and consulting services to the administrations and faculties of schools at all levels. He has chaired Florence, South Carolina's Human Relations council, the Chamber of Commerce's Diversity workshops, the Florence local F.E.M.A. board, and helped create an maintain a Community Center for Youth training, Family and Job mentoring, and business incubation. Additonally, Marc has spoken nationally on civil rights matters and worked internationally in the Middle East on matters involving both pluralism and the Israeli / Palestinian peace process. |
